Our roots trace back to G.H. Martin, who after serving his country in WWII, assisted in the construction of Lake Lanier as a welder. During his time as a welder, G.H. built a strong reputation for himself as a skilled tradesman with keen craftsmanship.
In 1956, after the completion of the Buford Dam, G.H. was sought out by Mr. J.D. Jewell to build the first private boat house on Lake Lanier. Many years thereafter, as Lake Lanier started to fill-in and lakefront property started to develop, G.H.’s entrepreneurial drive led him to establish Martin Docks, North Georgia’s oldest dock builder and a pioneer in the boat dock industry. Three generations later, and over 5,000+ docks built, Martin Docks continues the tradition of crafting timeless boat docks throughout the Southeast.
